What Causes Allergies
Allergies are caused by an exaggerated response of the immune system to something in the environment that cause little to no problems for most people. When one is exposed to this environmental substance or allergen, histamine is released and symptoms such as nasal congestion, itchiness of the eyes, nose, or throat, hoarse voice, eye redness, shortness of breath, or swelling may occur. Although lesser known to many, allergies can also manifest as fatigue, trouble focusing, depression, slowed thinking, ear infections, and dark circles/puffiness under the eyes.
Types of Allergy Testing
Common allergies such as tree pollens, grass, dust mites, cockroaches and molds are prevalent in everyday life. If you are suffering from allergic reactions or symptoms, we can help to identify and analyze the factors causing allergies. We test for a full range of environmental allergens, to isolate the cause of your discomfort and prescribe the needed medication. Testing is available for patients of all ages. Allergen immunotherapy works by changing the immune systems response to the allergen by increasing amounts of exposure. Therapy is customized for each individual and has proven useful in the treatment of allergy symptoms.
